First, we had my sisters over for Thanksgiving and Marci and Lynn slept over at our house cause Marci wanted to learn how to make a turkey. I think we did an excellent job, don't you? ;) Lol. It was hilarious because we wanted to use one of those oven bags, but I didn't know how to do that so we had fun trying to figure it out together.
It was baby James' first Christmas and he loved looking at the tree! He really enjoyed the Christmas lights and shiny glass ornaments. We didn't get him anything for Christmas--we figured he wouldn't mind and we wanted to spend the money on each other instead. lol. Selfish, I know, but at least he has grandparents who gave him presents! They were so nice.
We spent the holidays up at Ryan's parents' in Bountiful and went sledding. We took James and got him all bundled up: he wore his older cousin Aubrey's snow suit and she wore his, since his was bigger and hers was smaller. Anyway, so she was in a blue snow suit and he was in her white snowsuit and we forgot to bring a blanket so then we borrowed Aubrey's and so James was wrapped in a pink blanket. Poor kid. Everyone probably thought we had a cute little baby girl! I hope he isn't scarred for life by that experience.
Also, Jenny's boyfriend brought these pink pool tubes that were super cheap and we were using those to go down on. It was so hilarious to see all these pink tubes going down the hill with men on them. So Ryan took one and was really serious about going off this big jump that was there. Well, when he hit the jump, his pink tube popped! It was the funniest sight to see. He had to pick up all the shrapnel and bring it back up the hill. :D Good times.
Other new fun stuff is that James is now laughing, sitting by himself, playing with his toys, and he figured out how to roll from his front to back. He sometimes is not successful with the rolling thing though, which makes him pretty dang frustrated. He is a good kid though and we love him. Sometimes we wonder if he really knew what he was getting himself into by agreeing to come down and have the two of us as parents. Hopefully he knew! I would hate for him to be disappointed. :S We tell him every day that we promise to be better parents once we are graduated. Life is a very different thing when you are going to school and have a baby. We are definitely happy though and James seems happy also, so we will just keep plugging along!

ReplyDeleteHe is getting SO big! And like a real person now! I can't believe I'm missing this (not like I saw him regularly, but I felt like we had a connection since I timed his fake contractions and all). I am glad you finally updated your blog though. Keep it coming! I miss you guys! (Ryan included, haha).
